The village of Western Springs is located between Chicago and Aurora and stands between Ogden Avenue, Willow Springs Road, Interstate 294, and 55th Street.  Western Springs gets its name from the original mineral springs on the southwest side of the town.  Originally the area was mostly swamp, but the railroad and other development has improved the land and resulted in a beautiful section of the area outside Chicago.  Western Springs is ideally suited for the working family member – it sits off the beaten path, but is still close enough to the Interstate Highways that run to and from downtown Chicago.

Western Springs is an affluent community with a very high median income of around $100,000.  It is well-kept by its residents who take pride in ownership in this distinct village.  The homes are very nice and most were actually reconstructions or renovations from the earlier structures that dominated the neighborhood.  The wealthier families started moving in in the mid 1900’s and caused the shift in focus to a more prosperous place to live.  The community offers several parks in beautiful settings with a wide variety of amenities.  You can find picnic tables, basketball courts, tennis courts, baseball fields, nature walks, lakes, and lots and lots of trees.

Western Springs has plenty of unique and fun things to do.  Whether you are just visiting or staying for a while, you can experience a rich and full array of activities.  By far the most prominent type of things to do is the area parks.  Numerous park areas abound in Western Springs with no shortage of variety.  Springdale Park heads the list with a huge array of amenities and activities.  There is a swing, soccer field, basketball court, slide, picnic tables, baseball field, tennis court, sandbox, and restrooms.
